Recovering from CELON
The recovery time from a turbinates surgery depends on the invasiveness of the procedure. For less invasive turbinates reductions, recovery is usually fast and mostly painless, with the scar tissue in your nose healed in about three weeks. For more invasive procedures, recovery may take between three to six months.
Recovery in most cases is simple and takes roughly 2-3 days. Kampala CELON Patients can expect to have swelling of the turbinates for 1-2 weeks with some crusting for one week. Breathing may feel worse for 1-2 weeks but then will improve.
For more intensive procedures, you may need to pack your nostrils with gauze for up to a week after your surgery to help keep the tissues in place. What are Turbinates?
The turbinates are the first structure that air encounters when it enters the nose. They are long structures in the nose designed to help direct airflow through the nose. They are also used to help sense airflow.
For multiple reasons, the turbinates can become enlarged and swollen. When the turbinates enlarge, it can make it difficult for you to breathe. Allergies and a deviated septum are some of the symptoms that can cause the turbinates to become enlarged or “hypertrophied.” Inflamed turbinates are one of the leading causes of nasal congestion and obstruction.
Are There Risks Involved With CELON?
Turbinates surgery is generally safe but, like any procedure, there are a few risks. The biggest risk involves removing too much tissue. This results in a collapsed septum, which can lead to a permanently dry nose. A hole in the septum can cause bleeding and a whistle when you breathe.
