Relieve Nasal Obstruction with CELON

CELON turbinates reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the inferior nasal turbinates to improve nasal airflow. Nasal obstruction can cause numerous problems, such as difficulty breathing through the nose, snoring, and a constant feeling of congestion and stuffiness. Allergies, pollution, and turbulent airflow are just a few ways that the nose can become inflamed.

What Is CELON?

The ROSWELL Center for Ear, Nose, Throat, and Allergy specializes in minimally invasive techniques to improve nasal obstruction.

CELON is a radiofrequency treatment of the turbinates that helps reduce inflammation and improve airflow. The CELON in-office turbinates reduction procedure is a very simple option to relieve chronic nasal obstruction. A small wand is placed in the nose after topical anesthetic and radio-frequency is used to ablate the inferior turbinates causing scar formation and a reduction in size. Radiofrequency is a time-tested procedure that helps reduce the inflammation without causing damage to the external structure.

This procedure is simple, painless, and takes only a few minutes to perform. It reduces the size of the turbinates without causing damage to the mucosal layer, which helps you sense the airflow through your nose. It also prevents unwanted complications such as “empty nose syndrome” – a chronic condition where you feel like there is an obstruction of the nose, even though the nose is perfectly clear.

Performed with CELON technology, the procedure will cause little to no pain and can be performed with topical anesthesia in less than 10 minutes. CELON technology does not allow the probe to conduct heat unless it is within the tissue, making it very safe and effective.

Am I A Candidate For CELON?

Final results take roughly 4-6 weeks to become noticeable. Almost all Kampala CELON patients at the Roswell Center for Ear, Nose, Throat, and Allergy benefit from a turbinate reduction to some degree because they have been properly diagnosed prior to the procedure.

There are many great benefits when receiving CELON, including:

  • Breathing more freely
  • Fewer sinus infections
  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • Precise removal
  • Preserves normal turbinates function

Contact us today and make an appointment to find out if you are a candidate for this minimally invasive solution to nasal relief. At ROSWELL, we strive to deliver the best CELON Kampala has to offer.

Recovering from CELON

The recovery time from a turbinates surgery depends on the invasiveness of the procedure. For less invasive turbinates reductions, recovery is usually fast and mostly painless, with the scar tissue in your nose healed in about three weeks. For more invasive procedures, recovery may take between three to six months.

Recovery in most cases is simple and takes roughly 2-3 days. Kampala CELON Patients can expect to have swelling of the turbinates for 1-2 weeks with some crusting for one week. Breathing may feel worse for 1-2 weeks but then will improve.

For more intensive procedures, you may need to pack your nostrils with gauze for up to a week after your surgery to help keep the tissues in place. The biggest thing is to avoid blowing your nose or pulling your clothing over your head to help prevent bleeding and swelling of your nose. It is best to stay away from strenuous activities for a few weeks. It may also be recommended by your doctor to keep your head elevated while sleeping to avoid irritating your nose.

CELON - Other Information

What are Turbinates?

The turbinates are the first structure that air encounters when it enters the nose. They are long structures in the nose designed to help direct airflow through the nose. They are also used to help sense airflow.

For multiple reasons, the turbinates can become enlarged and swollen. When the turbinates enlarge, it can make it difficult for you to breathe. Allergies and a deviated septum are some of the symptoms that can cause the turbinates to become enlarged or “hypertrophied.” Inflamed turbinates are one of the leading causes of nasal congestion and obstruction.

Are There Risks Involved With CELON?

Turbinates surgery is generally safe but, like any procedure, there are a few risks. The biggest risk involves removing too much tissue. This results in a collapsed septum, which can lead to a permanently dry nose. A hole in the septum can cause bleeding and a whistle when you breathe.

The issue is that the turbinates cannot warm and humidify the air you breathe. The doctors at the Roswell Center for Ears, Nose, Throat, and Allergy take every precaution to ensure that the appropriate amount of tissue is removed from the nose and the septum is protected.

Other risks associated with turbinates surgery include bad reaction to anesthesia, bleeding, chronic nasal inflammation, infection, numbness of the front teeth, and a loss of the sense of smell.
