Pediatric Audiological Testing

When a child’s hearing needs to be tested, a pediatric audiological test is administered. During visual reinforcement audiometry, the child wears headphones and a tone, speech, or music is played for the child to react to by shifting his or her eyes or turning the head. Children are rewarded with a visual display. Behavioral observation audiometry tests hearing by provoking a behavioral response to sound. This is used for infants up to the age of 7 months.
